Do any of you like dubstep?
I haven't seen any discussion about this here.
Do you like any dubstep artists?

So are there any dubstep artists you like?
JonnyϟLightning 9/26/2011, 1:17 AM Let's discuss what major mainstream artist first toyed with it.

Anything now is Brostep.
If you want real dubstep, look to the originator coming out in the early 00s and UK ie Skream:
nNAC8APZymA
It sucks tbh.
I dislike a lot of it, unless I'm really drunk.
**** yes, Skream is amazing <3.
It sucks tbh.
I dislike a lot of it, unless I'm really drunk.
Only because you dislike it, does not mean it sucks... Just saying.
popstar 9/26/2011, 1:27 AM IlEkvbRmfrA
312seNJTkxQ
UXzMPd9pib0
TheOnlyOne 9/26/2011, 1:39 AM I think it's dreadful.
Megan3474 9/26/2011, 2:58 AM Freakshow has been my jam ever since I got Blackout.
But it's not too much of my thing, I do love the La Roux remix Skream (I think?) did with Going in for the kill.
sPanBdmVxKM
MTNHqqeTreo
DpS7nCweYZI
I used to before the "I love dubstep" wave kicked in.
JackOfHearts 9/26/2011, 6:12 AM I don't mind it in little bits, or in remixes. I like the occasional full-on dubstep song, but quite often, it's over-played because it's the latest trend, and quite often, it's flat out obnoxious (point in fact, in Equinox, the first video posted, I cannot STAND the whole "CALL 9-1-1 NOW!" ********. It actually wrecks the song by putting me right off.
WAZZZUP 9/26/2011, 6:14 AM It's ****ing retarded...

VampireGrin 9/26/2011, 9:01 AM I like a little bit of it used in a song. LIGHTS new album uses it flawlessly :worship2:
Queen Bea. 9/26/2011, 9:38 AM Skrillex is fantastic plus he has done tons of remixes for Gaga and is now doing well in his own right, nice to see.

Katy In a Mission slays every other song released this year, it's dubstep, but with a pop feel

I'm kinda mad it's starting to get popular tho but it's alright and I'm sick of seeing Britney stans saying Freakshow is dubstep just because Pitchfork said it, there's nothing in that song that has real dubstep.
Nait Phoenix 10/1/2011, 11:00 AM I'm starting to learn about Dubstep. I think it's one of the best genre's to come from the UK along with DnB & garage. :jamming:

Since Freakshow isn't really "dubstep," and it only incorporates elements of dub step, Britney technically isn't the first mainstream artist to use it. The Queen is.

Katy B is not mainstream though. :rip:
She's only big in europe and irrelevant everywhere else. Even skrillex himself credited britney for being the first major artist to do it....

There are small parts in the song that are dubstep. Critics and even dubstep fans agree. Deal with it.

No receipts there, that aint dubstep gal. Britney remains the Queen of Mainstream Dubstep.

Real, full blown dub step always has an average bpm of about 140...like this at :40:
BeOJDgAu4LE
It usually has those wobbly, dark synths also.

One of Brit's stans even admitted that Freakshow isn't dub step, it INCORPORATES it. Both songs only INCORPORATE it. One's from 2001, and the other's from 2007. You must deal.

Creator and Starstruck are dubstep-ish...
Canonical Ensemble 10/1/2011, 11:46 AM I'm still trying to understand the concept of what dubstep is. I can't easily spot it from a random track.
I don't have verbal definitions for it as my English is quite limited. All you need to do is spending some time at a dubstep night of a club with decent sound systems. It won't take long before you can catch the common features and repetitions in it.
---------------------------------------
Btw, I don't use dubstep outside clubs. It sounds awful without superb sound systems (e.g. on radio).

Wait Your Turn goes way harder and has much more dubstep elements hence the instrumental being played in dubstep clubs

Rihanna was probably inspired to put dubstep on her album after she heard freakshow. I mean she did buy blackout after all.

Nait Phoenix 10/1/2011, 12:20 PM If y'all said G4L, I'd be behind that. That has true elements of dubstep, but, y'all seem to not be getting how epic dubstep must sound to be considered dubstep. :alexz:
